Vestacha International candles : Custom fragrance descriptions

First of all thank you to EVERYONE for all the well wishing !

It’s been a hell of a few weeks and an amazing day!

I finally got my beautiful tree, This year I was running late so I couldn’t get a living tree that I could replant- i succumbed and bought a cut tree- but i don’t throw them away when they’re done, I dry the branches and use the needles for incense blends that I like to make and chop the wood to dry out and eventually use as firewood. No waste here. If you’ve never tried it, making your own natural incense is so fun and totally addictive, it has no nasty chemicals either like the store bought stuff !

Here’s a great recipe for natural incense-

1 part dried cedar chips

1 part dried juniper berries

1 part dried fir or pine needles

Burn over an incense coal in a fire safe container or over hot coal in the fireplace- very natural and sweet smelling blend used for many many centuries by first tnation peoples for healing and cleansing BTW! YOu see! ya learn something new every day!

Anyway back to candles!!!

As promised I would love to give you some more information about our scents for the candle line!

Each scent is an Ode to a blend , herb, resin, perfume or flower or combination thereof that has been used traditionally for creating healing and blessing or sacred space by various different cultures historically.

WISDOM KEEPER -

This is a blend of Sage ( salvia officinalis) sweetgrass (Torresia odorata)and tobacco flower (Nicotiana tabacum). All three of these herbs have been used for centuries by my ancestors and the ancestors of many first nation peoples to cleanse, bless and protect. Im sure you’ve heard of “Saging” a place to rid it of negativity or to help one to heal when ill. These herbs have been used on their own or in combination for many many moons. This blend is comprised of both essential oils and Perfume oils and Is one of my personal favorites. It is a very very warm, and comforting scent. It has an earthy natural sweetness that is very soothing and is reminiscent of the mingling of the scents of the dying embers of a fireplace mixed with coniferous incense and amber like resinous tones.

ATAR-

Atar is an ode to the Eternal flame or The Holy Fire spoken of and worshipped by the zoroastrian peoples of ages past. In this case it is In it’s feminine aspect. With a strong Base of warm earthy Cedar, and the rich exotic spiciness of clove and cinnamon it is a Rich sexual and decadent scent . Barely perceptible musk notes dance in and out of this mysterious and ethereal scent while the resinous benzoin and vanilla add the truly lustrous quality that binds the earthy cedar to all of these other notes. All of these notes come together in perfect harmony to create this symphony, a masterpiece. It is totally irresistible and addictive in the best way.

ZEN-

. This blend has been created to put you at ease. Through the power of scent, Zen eliminates the clamor of daily life. It’s meditative qualities beg you to delve deeper into your own mysteries. This Ode to The Japanese meditation and way of life that is known as Zen is a natural and peaceful smelling blend.

With the traditional Japanese incense notes of Aloeswood and Orris root and the healing ambrosia of the sacred cypress tree this is a truly calming sacred scent and will bring these qualities when burned to you, no matter where you are.

JARDIN-

One of the most sacred places that anyone will ever find is the Garden. This blend is an ode to the fresh flowers of spring, the subtle dew drop covered petals of foxgloves, snowdrops, crocuses and wisteria. It is clean and gentle as a newly formed bud. You can smell the green of the Garden in this scent, the sun on the new fresh baby leaves and clear blue cold sky above you. It captures the airy quality of the garden, the bracing newness of Life as it blossoms forth in it’s first stages of realization.Using essential and perfume oils this scent is both complex and simple and though floral is never cloying but rather caresses and reminds us subtley of the beauty that surrounds us when in nature.

TAO-

Tao captures the rare botanical scent of the deep red Peony, a flower revered for centuries by the peoples of East Asia as a representative of Virtue, happiness, success and beauty. With seamless undertones of Chinese Incense, these scents intermingle and bring light and joy to the senses. In the way That we remember certain smells from our childhood, Tao is one of those wonderful Odes that you cannot pin down, you cannot quite put your finger on what it is exactly that you love so much about it, you just do.

LONGHOUSE-

The Scent of Longhouse is like a long walk in autumn through a deep pine forest. It is a gathering place in the rainforests of Northern Canada for our senses. It is a retreat, a healing, a reconnection to the Great Mother earth and the great towering majestic Trees that she has blessed us with. It is a renewing, warming and soothing scent that speaks strongly of Nature. Pine, Black spruce, Fir and Birch envelope us with their strength, we leave the cities and towns behind us and we release ourselves to go and rejoin our centre. Traditionally the Longhouse is the place where the people meet, where blessings, healings, meditations and important ceremonies are held. What better place then the forest for this?

So There are the first six scent descriptions for you, it is 3;06 am and I must away to the land of sleep.

My Love to you all, I will write more soon
