American History X

This film was one of the harder ones I’ve done, in terms of performance. To this day, it is hard for me to watch myself in it.

I think it is an incredibly powerful film, and has a very strong message, several strong messages actually. The direction was good, and cinematography strong and very well done. The performances are all very real and true. Edward Norton and Edward Furlong are really pretty darn great in this film.

Someone told me that several schools show this film as part of their curriculum in teaching kids about racism. That is truly something I am honored and proud of. I still have a hard time watching it though, and have only seen it once since it came out.

I can actually confirm the last paragraph. Even here in Sweden, my teachers showed this film to me and my class in 8th or 9th grade (don’t really remember). It’s one of my favorite movies, and I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve seen it since. It’s very powerful indeed.

This is a hard film for me to watch without crying. I lived that life first hand and managed to get out around the time that the film came out. The film depicts that lifestyle quite well and that is what makes it hard for me. Especially the ending, I came very close to that in real life.

I am sorry.I am glad you survived and came out intact.
Film is a very powerful medium, and I am glad that I was able to be in a film which has such a strong message.
    Thanks for writing in

Once I asked a girl from Belgium about her favorite movie and she told me that it was AHX. They showed that movie in her school too.
I’ve seen this movie like 4 or more times at different age, and I watch it realising how deep it actually is, finding something new every time.
This movie means quite alot to me especially because I’ve got an older brother too, and I had troubles in school quite similar to Danny’s. But seeing this movie taught me at the very early stage of developing wrong thoughts to actually asking myself right questions and finding right answers to them.
This’s one of those movies which can really open person’s eyes and teach something. I always thought it was based on some book and it was quite a surprise to me that it’s not.
And speaking of your role, Fairuza, I must admit that this was the first movie when you catched my eye. I haven’t seen any other woman being able to play that sick and real look in their eyes before in any other movie.
I will never say this’s my favorite movie because it’s quite a complicated one, and there’s no word to describe or rate it, but this’s the one that really means big something to me.
Thank you for your starring in this one, Fairuza, you’ve made this masterpiece even more unforgetable.

American History X is one of the most powerful and moving films that I’ve ever seen. Your performance is incredibly powerful and disturbing, and I can see why it must have been a very difficult part to play. Especially considering your Roma heritage and their persecution by the Nazis. Despite that it’s clear that you put your heart and soul into the role. To my mind you’re one of the finest film actors working today and seeing your name on a film’s credits is always a recommendation to watch it. Another reason is that you’re incredibly beautiful too.

I just love this movie. It affected me though. After watching this one i was wondering what to think. Maybe i got stuck with the last scene in mind each time.

This is a great movie. And a powerful one. One in which each and every wrong action kind of sticks with the viewer and haunts him as if he was the one doing it.
