Love seeing The Gun Club up there. I don’t think any other album has made other people look at me like I might be seriously troubled than “Fire of Love” (“For The Love of Ivy” and “Jack On Fire” in particular have a way of getting to people). Kid Congo Powers and his band The Pink Monkey Birds put out a pretty good album of fuzzed out garage rock last year called “Dracula Boots”.
That is a great list of music. I was just curious if you’d ever listened to the band Afghan Whigs.
I haven’t actually, I should check them out huh?

I think so. The stuff you listed is in that wheelhouse, so I think you might enjoy them. I don’t think they are recording anymore, but I’ve always enjoyed them.
Some good stuff here. Tom Waits - the God of cool. He’s just brilliant isn’t he. Wonderful. If a person says they like music but doesn’t like Tom Waits I turn into one of the guys from the record shop in High Fidelity and want them to leave my air-space in a nano second. I switch off. Tune out. I see you have Blur on your list. Not a bad band but I have to go with Pulp all the way. Jarvis Cocker is the songwriter of the Brit-pop whatever it was. His irony, sarcasm and dry wit is everything that a great British song writer has in spades. I think Morrisey for example. Although saying that, I don’t think Jarvis had many teenage boys crying into their pillows at night and writing poor poetry in fields of daffodils like Morrisey. Jarvis may have encouraged them to peep into the girls locker room or listen in on their older sisters conversations with her friends on a sleepover. Jarvis Cocker, funny. Love him. No Bonnie Prince Billy in there I see. Hmmm…why Fairuza shame on you. Also, where are Wire ? Talking Heads, come on, Black Flag, Jackson C Frank…and so many more. Couple of words…update dear lady - Liverpool needs it. Take care. (smiles)
I forgot Mark Lannegan also Cat Power and many more you will get a headache from reading…you got any recommendations ? (Liverpool UK)
Last post: Just checked out your track. You a lisa Germano fan ? You’re voices have similarities in tone. Has a lovely feel to it. Would of been nice to hear just a little echo on your vocal, would of given more of a hauntingly seductive quality. Other worldly maybe…Either way, well done. Very good indeed F. Will give it press on my website.(Liverpool UK)- You go girl!!
Try some Porter Wagoner. I am not being funny or ironic, either, I’m dead serious. He could take it to a place deep and dark enough for the Misfits, with an acoustic guitar and a Rhinestone nudie suit. Try “The First Mrs. Jones” on for size, and you’ll see what I mean.
Hey Fairuza,
I love Janis Joplin too!!! whats ur favorite by her??? mines gotta be what’s going on….never gets old:)
