I like what I’ve heard of Warpaint. So far this year for me has been about Rowland S. Howard’s “Pop Crimes” (as good as anything he’s done post-Birthday Party), JG Thirlwell’s new Manorexia CD “The Mesopelagic Waters”, The Fall’s “Your Future, Our Clutter”, Roky Erickson & Okkervil Rivers’ “True Love Cast Out All Evil”, Those Darlins/Funstix single, Smoke Fairies “Ghosts”, Holly Golightly & The Brokeoffs…looking forward to hearing the new Grinderman and Jon Langford albums
Great list! I just realized we have another friend in common besides David J Haskins… Shannon aka webmastress.
Hope all is well and the album is going smoothly!
Ciao!
Didn’t we meet at Johnette’s show backstage?
In fact, I’d love to chat w you about some stuff:) Can you send me your email?
Hope this finds you well
All the best

Thanks for sending in all those cool bands, I will have to look them up:)!
Warpaint are some pretty cool gals too, I’ve known them for awhile and I try to catch their gigs when I can.
I recognize your email name, Hey, thank you btw for defending me against all those IMDB vicious freaky comments.
A fried of mine told me about that message board a while back and I went there and It really freaked me out.
Anyways I know what you did and I wanted to say personally “Thank YOu” :)
All the best and thanks for writing in

Aw, shucks ma’am, twern’t nuffin’. I rarely look in on the boards there anymore, I think I ended up killfiling everyone ;D. Have since picked up the new Grinderman, really good though the first one’s better if you haven’t listened to them before. Just checked out some Benoît Pioulard off You Tube, some impressive guitar playing.
Great Post!…

You should go buy the last Hope Sandoval cd. That has some great tracks on it. Has more to it I think than the Mazzy Star stuff. Would also suggest checking out doseone and all his other alias’s and side projects…a couple for now…
Take it easy.

Have to agree with Ultra regarding the new Grinderman CD. It’s not as tight as the first release. I got to watch them live last month in Manchester UK and they are a great live act. Just like The Bad Seeds they do it and do it well. Although more full on rock as you know. So many bands half the age of these guys could learn so much in terms of showmanship and performances from this band. They know what the fans want and they go all out. Nick and the men have integrity in spades. That’s not up for debate. I’m sure you agree. Anyway, onto Manchester again tomorrow. Yan Tiersen in Manchester Cathedral. Should be special. Yan the man. (listening to Lanegan’s One Hundred Days off of Bubblegum) my God he could sing a song selling sanitary towels and I would go buy them. Bill Hicks would be proud…(Liverpool UK)

Have you ever heard of the band “Fairuza B Sides”? Yes, it was an actual band that exsisted back in 1996. I can send you the one song EP they cut called “Washer at the Fjord” if you’re intersted. They were a great Florida punk band but disbanded after only a few years…
